“Smart, Easy End-User Installation and Reliable Node-Coordinator System & Protocol solution for IoT Applications using Cost-Effective Embedded systems”
Technical paper presented in IESL 112th Annual Sessions – October 2018.
Abstract: This paper presents a cost effective and ready to deploy system solution for generic IoT applications where a centralized system (Coordinator) communicates with multiple terminal devices (Nodes – range from tens to hundreds) and exchange set of data to work collectively as Master and Slaves. The SICID node-coordinator system is proposed for such distributed data-acquisition and control system. This system comprises easy end-user installation, reliable & robust communication protocol, user friendly Interfacing, smart Diagnostics and Web Interface with flexible configurations. The SICID node-coordinator system uses WiFi as the communication medium to connect the entire system into LAN. The system is designed & implemented using cost effective embedded systems. ESP8266 WiFi SOC is used as the controller for the ‘Node’ and scripted in NodeMCU – Lua. RaspberryPi3 as a controller for ‘Coordinator’ and programmed in Python.
